Happy Thanksgiving!!

Image
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. :) I have so many things to be thankful for this year: my mother's good health, my amazing now fiance, getting to go back to school, finding a weight loss program that actually works, renewing my relationship with my father, and many many more things. I am truly blessed.  I was asked to make a sweet potato dish for tomorrow, and I found a recipe that sounds fantastic. I am going to be peeling and cubing 6 lbs of sweet potatoes and cook them in 2 cups of apple cider. That was the base recipe. I am going to add some cinnamon, ginger and splenda brown sugar. I will let you know how it goes, but it sounds super good.  I am all ready to start my Yule/Holiday decorating. To me the Holiday season starts the minute Santa hits herald square during the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade. So decorations can begin going up tomorrow. Yay!!  This next month will probably be very Holiday oriented. :) I am so excited for the season this year, last year was so

A warning...

I have added a music player to my blog, so it will play music when you go to read my blog. The player is at the bottom of the page if you want to turn it off. Just a FYI.

November...

is already half over. What the hell? Where has the month gone? *sigh* It's almost time to get all the Yule/Christmas decorations out and up. Last year I set up 2 (or 1 1/2) trees. The main tree and a small black and white one in our foyer, which is mostly decorated in those colors. I want to add another tree this year, but I don't know where to put it. I will figure it out. I just want to be able to showcase some of my other ornaments and such. I'm excited to get started decorating and getting pieces out. I have a new Craftster swap I am working on. WWP Yule Swap... I have so many ideas and will be sharing as I am working and once things are complete. I really love the Winter holidays. :) So... I know I have totally skipped Thanksgiving. And I can't skip Thanksgiving because it means the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the parade is one of my favorite ever things. I know it's cheesy and silly, but I love it and it's tradition. I have watched it almo

The Thursday That Feels Like a Saturday.

I had the day off for Veteran's Day but am back to work for Friday. I bet I will be super productive tomorrow... you know, or not. I used my day off to un-decorate the house for Halloween. My Halloween decorations have multiplied since last year, my totes runneth over. I'm not upset about this, actually I am pretty excited about it. I completely forgot to post that I received the pendulum and book that I won from Rue and Hyssop and they are fantastic. I love them so much. It was actually kind of strange because the pendulum is made of Carnelian, which is a stone I do not typically work with. Then in my WWP Samhain Swap package my partner also sent me some Carnelian. I guess I must need to have that stone around me right now. According to www.charmsoflight.com the properties of Carnelian are as follows:   A stabilising stone, Carnelian restores vitality and motivation, and stimulates creativity.  It gives courage, promotes positive life choices, dispels apathy and motivates fo

Thrift Store Finds

Image
I went to the Ohio Thrift Store on Friday Night, and it was an amazingly good find day. I spent $24 total and I bought the following. An Awesome Silver Tray.  A tarnished but beautiful tea set with three goblets, all silver plated. An awesome bottle with Bacchus on it.  And a clear glass tea set for blooming teas. :)  Life is going good. I'm still losing weight. My current weight loss total is 35.5 pounds. Going strong. And my friend Janet and I decided tonight that we are going to do the  Warrior Dash  in June. Basically it's a "race" with an obstacle course in it. And they encourage costumes and silliness, so we have decided we have to do it. I am really excited by the idea. :)  I got my second English essay back today and was really excited that I got a 98% on it. Hell Yeah. I am so freakin' excited by that. Which means I should be getting an A in the class. Rock!! I have a Math test tomorrow night, but I am feeling pretty confident about the concepts on it,

And It's November!!

Image
October is over, sigh. So we move on to November. I have a tendency to pretty much skip this month entirely moving straight from Samhain to Yule and not stopping to enjoy the time between. So, to make myself appreciate November a bit more I am joining  Creative Every Day  in Art Every Day Month. Basically you challenge yourself to do something artistic/ creative every day. I am going to make an effort to do at least something small daily and to share at least once a week. School is going well. I got an A on both my first essay for English and on my first Math test. I expect to do well in English, but the Math grade honestly shocked me. I'm really happy with how my classes are going. I hope I can keep it up. I got an action photo today of the Shrek costume I made Seth's uncle in action. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
