Weekend Wrap Up...

Image
Seth and I spent most of the weekend at Origins, which is a gaming convention here in  Columbus. Seth was working for Sandstorm productions pimping the RPG game CthulhuTech. He ran a four hour demo for them plus worked a two hour shift in the booth yesterday and four hours today. I grazed the dealers room and came home with several awesome pins from Geek Details, a pair of beautiful worked metal hair sticks that have jingly bells on them, a halloween witch chibithulhu, a steampunk book that was signed and stamped by the author (and promptly lent to Chris which is why I know neither title or author) and I got two new sets of dice that are neither red nor pink (because all my dice were red or pink) and I got my little sister a domino pendant that's really pretty. Seth and I bought two new card games Burn in Hell and SPANC ~ Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls...lol. For working the booth Seth got one of the CthulhuTech books he didn't have and will be getting a copy of the newest…

Than with a trip to the zoo. We decided to get up early this morning and go to the zoo for a bit as we have a membership and  can get in free. We went to see our new Polar Bear exhibit and we did , oh they are so cute. But somehow I was so taken with them that I did not manage to get any pictures, sigh... but I did get pictures of the otters, a beautiful dragonfly, a frog, a pallas cat and a tiger . I also rescued a dragonfly while we were there it was banging into one of the glass enclosures and little kids kept poking it, so I gently picked it up and took it outside where it dive bombed a man walking by...oops. He looked really shocked and said "What the hell was that?" I explained and apologized but I thought it was really funny. I thought I would share my pictures with you though.

Tomorrow is Litha. I have never had a very strong connection to this holiday but I am trying to change that. I am planning to eat a nice summer vegetable based dinner with Seth and then do a pri…

Thoughts on Father's Day...

I grew up without a father, it was my mom and my maternal Grandparents. I met my father when I was 11 or 12. We had an on again off again relationship after that until I turned 21 or so at which point I lost him completely. Late last year I found him, of all things, on Facebook and we began to talk again. I am really enjoying having him as part of my life. But it is strange to me how much I have in common with him as he was never in my life for an extended period of time. Last night I was talking to him about the craft swaps I'd been doing and when I mentioned roller derby, he tells me he was an old school fan of the San Fransisco Bay Bombers and Joanie Weston. I never knew that  but I have been in love with Derby since I first heard of it. My father loves Shakespeare which I have loved since I was in 4th grade. We also both love Renaissance Faires and History, Fantasy and Sci-fi, the paranormal and shows like Ghost Hunters and so much more that I can't even think of right now…

I survived the weekend.

And it was a full one.

We saw Concrete blonde at the Newport on Friday Night. We got some furniture from a friend of ours and picked it all up on Saturday. He gave us three good sized chests, an antique cabinet thing that I have some great ideas for and then some plastic pieces and bins for craft stuff. I am going to paint a lot of it and  clean it up,  so expect pics soon. : ) Saturday night we went to a party at my friend Ashley's house, got to catch up with some friends had a great time, though I overindulged a bit on the Alcohol. Oops. On Sunday I woke up feeling every bit of what I drank the night before, but got over it pretty fast and got my Litha package and the Angel package for the Roller Derby swap done. Woo-hoo!!

On Monday I officially started my weight loss/ get healthier plan. Last year at some point I bought a kit off of ebay with all the Weight Watchers books and the point calculator. With that the woman who sold it also gave all the information on how to figure up…

Getting Motivated by A Nu(de) Motivation

Earlier this year I went to the Dr and found out that I had put on a ridiculous amount of weight in the last year. A REALLY ridiculous amount...like 14 pounds. How the hell does that even happen? How do you put on that much weight and not really even notice, I mean I knew I had put on some weight but not that much, yikes.

Well the other day someone posted a link to the blog  A Nu(de) Motivation. How inspiring are these women and so brave? Their idea...they are going to work on losing weight and getting healthy for a little over a year and at the end of that time they are going to be photographed nude. If you haven't checked out their blog you should. It's inspiring and comforting hearing how things are going for them and seeing how they deal with the challenges that present themselves everyday.

So taking their inspiration I am going to start working on my own plans and goals. I have a couple of ideas so stay tuned because there is more to come. But it is definitely time for a …

And we're off...

When I woke up this morning I had absolutely no plans for the weekend...by 9am I had made dinner plans for tonight, plans to go garage sale-ing with my mom, little sister and the puppies tomorrow, probably grab lunch with the ladies and Seth and then later in the night Seth and I will be going to the Movie Tavern to see Shrek in 3D.Added to that I am now angeling for the organizer in the Roller Derby Swap as she was flaked on, still working on my Litha swap package which I would really like to get out early next week and before the weekend is out should have my partner for The 10th Kingdom swap...busy crafting bee is what I'm going to be.

The derby swap I should be able to knock out fairly fast. I have a couple of fun ideas of what to do. I am working on one piece for the Litha swap but considering we are supposed to be making 3 smalls and I just keep working on the one item I think I am going a little overboard. I may need to stop for a minute step back and regroup. I may have to…

Ch-ch-ch-changes...

I'm sitting here staring at a shiny new 4" black heavy duty binder. This binder is going to be transformed into my new Book of Shadows soon. I can't help but wonder if I will love it as much as I loved my previous one. My soon to be retired binder was decoupaged by be, but then I had my little sister help me draw witchy symbols on it. I'm going to miss it, and the part of my life it represented. I feel like this is the end of an era, and maybe it's a good thing. Maybe this is the start to a much needed purge and update to every aspect of my life.

Here is the thing, the real issue...I absolutely fear change. If I know I am doing something the least bit risky I have a nasty tendency to freak out. This is a piece of me I absolutely know I need to work on, because I get stuck and then I get wenchy and miserable. But I am getting better about it, I bought a house last year and I am getting ready to possibly take a huge leap... so I guess I fear change but embrace it. So…
